Tuesday, May 22 - Little Naturalists at the Tenafly Nature Center

Young children with an adult will explore the natural world with a Tenafly Nature Center educator in the Little Naturalists program, held on Tuesdays 4/24, 5/1, 5/8, 5/15, 5/22, 5/29 and 6/5.  The program focuses on working together through discovery stations, songs and outside journeys.  Topics include All About Amphibians, Incredible Insects, Fabulous Flowers, Springtime Forest, Down at the Pond, Snakes Aren't Slimy, Rascally Rabbits and Egg-stravaganza.  Program is under cover if raining, but dress for the weather.  No strollers or unregistered siblings. Several libraries in the area - Montvale, Old Tappan, Park Ridge and Washington Township - offer free passes or vouchers for your family to visit the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. Kids can play in the Discovery Room where they can hunt for specimens of birds, insects and small mammals; assemble their own collection of skulls, arthropods and minerals; assemble a life-sized skeleton of 14-foot long dinosaur and track real-time earthquakes!

Old Tappan residents can check out a family pass for free admission to one of the world's architectural landmarks - the Guggenheim Museum in New York City.  The pass provides free admission for 1 cardholder and 3 additional guests.  It also entitles you to bypass ticket lines and receive a 10% discount at the store and cafe.

Macaroni Fitness: Train2Cheer DVD Review


After having two babies, my body could use some toning.  My fitness routine currently involves lifting a 10 pound baby and chasing after a three-year-old.  As much as I'd love to join a gym, it is difficult to commit when I have two little ones with unpredictable schedules.  As an alternative, I've been looking for a good workout DVD to use at home so I was thrilled when I received a copy of the Train2Cheer DVD to review.

Macaroni Made: Marshmallow/Pom Pom Shooter

This is a really simple craft that leaves your mini macaroni with a fun toy to enjoy after! It's a marshmallow/pom pom shooter!

What you need:
2 plastic cups
1 balloon
scissors
marshmallows and/or pom poms

What you do:
Stack the 2 plastic cups and cut them about a third of the way down. (I used 2 for sturdiness. If you have a sturdier cup, one will probably do)



Tie your balloon and cut the (non-tied) end.
